Many years ago when I first started to do pottery I made an urn for my cat Joshua when he passed after we had been together for 10 years.
It’s hard to let go. They have been so close to us for so long. How do we keep the memories that mean so much? For those of us who choose to keep their ashes, preserve them in a vessel that speaks to the character of the pet that we will always remember……
One might also consider these smaller urns appropriate for sharing human ashes. Often we are more than one in a family or circle of friends who would like to preserve that memory.
Note: The urns that I show on this page are of both burnished and glazed finishes. I have experimented with clear glaze over the hand carved surface textures and then added them to the sawdust kiln to gain this effect.
